About Us

This site has been developed by Ethicon Endo-Surgery to provide a useful resource for UK patients suffering from piles and looking for the most suitable surgical treatment.

Ethicon Endo-Surgery is part of Johnson and Johnson Medical, one of the world’s largest medical device manufacturers. The PPH procedure is just one of Ethicon Endo-Surgery’s innovative surgical devices.

NICE Recommendation

The PPH procedure was recommended in September 2007 by NICE, the UK National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. NICE reviewed the PPH procedure, also known as Stapled Haemorrhoidopexy, and decided that it offered specific advantages over the open haemorrhoidectomy technique.

Beating Bowel Cancer

Ethicon Endo-Surgery is an established supporter of Beating Bowel Cancer, a charity dedicated to raising awareness of this disease, the second biggest cancer killer. We work alongside Beating Bowel Cancer to help patients gain early diagnosis. The work of this charity helps save many lives in the UK, as it is a curable cancer if caught early, and we are proud to be part of this activity.

Our Surgeons

We are fortunate to include many of the UK’s leading colorectal surgeons in the ranks of our fully trained surgeon list. When performed correctly, PPH is proven to be a very safe procedure, and we invest significantly in ensuring that surgeons have access to training and are adding new surgeons to our PPH list every year. For details of the surgeons in your area performing the PPH procedure, please contact our helpline on 0800-028-2231.

Our Helpline

The PPH helpline is available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. It is staffed by a team of trained nurses who are happy to speak with both patients and healthcare professionals. We do not diagnose over the phone, but we can offer information, support, and help patients to have the confidence to come forward for treatment.

* Disclaimer:

Please note we are not in a position to diagnose or prescribe for specific medical conditions on our Helpline. Should you have any queries relating to your particular condition we recommend that you consult your GP.
