What Causes Haemorrhoids and Piles?

Piles are at least uncomfortable and at worst a continual painful and distressing condition, but they can be prevented in the majority of cases by following some simple diet and lifestyle rules.

Piles usually develop because of constipation. Constipation occurs when the waste matter in your colon has become compacted and hard to pass. Subsequent straining to void the bowels puts great pressure on the veins around the anus, which will ultimately prolapse (just as varicose veins do in the leg) and become haemorrhoids.

You can avoid constipation by incorporating the right foods, together with plenty of water, into your daily diet.
