Treatments for Piles

There are a variety of different methods for treating haemorrhoids which range from over the counter remedies from your pharmacist to a number of surgical techniques. If over the counter or prescription treatments don’t solve your piles, your GP may recommend surgery.
The surgical method that’s right for you will depend on the severity of your haemorrhoids and your GP's recommendations. Haemorrhoids are graded in degrees, from first degree (least severe) to fourth degree (most severe).
If you think you may have piles you should visit your GP, who will be able to advise you on the best treatment. For a leaflet with information about the treatments available, please phone our helpline on 0800 028 2231.
